A Dark Day in Paradise by Clare Twomey 3,000 black ceramic butterflies descend on the sumptuous interiors of the Royal Pavilion. The butterflies cluster on the extravagant Banqueting Room table, across window panes, in roof lights, on mantelpieces and other surfaces throughout the ground floor rooms. Their sombre beauty is a reflection on the excesses and frivolity of the past life of the palace. |

Plant Portraits An exhibition of paintings by botanical artists that convey a plant’s technical form and structure as well as its beauty in ways that a photograph cannot. Botanical drawing has a legacy of historical importance going back to the time of ancient Egypt. Successful illustrators must be technically highly competent in drawing and painting, with a good knowledge of botany and the ability to convey the sense of wonder of the plant world. The beautiful works of art in this exhibition are complemented by magnificently illustrated botanical books and specimens from the Booth Museum collections. Plant Portraits is presented by the Botanical Art Society of Sussex in conjunction with the Booth Museum of Natural History. Booth Museum of Natural History |

Bark Like A Dog Blues Jam Musicians of all abilities are welcome to join in the fun and either replace or play alongside a band member. We can also accommodate bands who want to take over the whole stage for a number or two! Musical content is centred around blues but not strictly constrained by it with numbers by BB King, Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix among the set list. A set-list is available for all on the evening and is co-ordinated so that everyone that wants to get up and strut their stuff gets the chance to. The set-list is available on line at the bands website www.barklikeadog.co.uk if you would like a preview and want to get practising before the event. Experience really isnt a pre-requisite and novices are made just as welcome as those with many years of playing under their belts. You don’t even have to bring your own gear... If you want to play bass, guitar or drums then you can simply use the bands equipment. However Saxaphones, Zithers, Washboards, Penny Whistles, Flutes and Trumpets... or anything else you want to play will need to be brought along by yourself. It’s always good fun and is a relaxed and supportive way to get your first taste of performing live. So if youre a budding superstar... or you just like playing for the sheer fun of it. Come along and join us at Brightons premier music venue. |
